Fiber Construction / OSP Manager
to oversee our long-haul and regional fiber construction projects.
This role blends office-based project management with hands-on field leadership, ensuring that construction, engineering, and fiber installation projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do As the
Fiber Construction / OSP Manager , you’ll take ownership of end-to-end fiber infrastructure builds — from design review through final acceptance. You’ll manage construction crews, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective fiber networks across Nebraska.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage OSP fiber construction activities, including rural plowing, city/rural boring, trenching, splicing, and testing.
Supervise field crews and inspectors, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met.
Review and resolve design and field issues quickly to maintain project schedules.
Oversee multiple projects simultaneously across rural and metro environments.
Manage daily and weekly reporting of construction progress, budget tracking, and material usage.
Collaborate with engineering teams on field design, easements, and permitting requirements.
Review, mark up, and approve construction drawings and fiber designs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and company specifications.
Track budgets, material orders, and invoices to maintain accurate cost control.
Manage vendor performance, materials ordering, and delivery timelines.
Prepare acceptance packages and closeout documentation.
Field Operations Leadership
Serve as the bridge between office operations and field execution.
Visit job sites regularly to verify progress, quality, and adherence to safety standards.
Support crews in identifying and solving on-site issues efficiently.
Provide consistent, accurate project updates to internal leadership and clients.
Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
What You Bring Experience & Background
5+ years in OSP / fiber construction management, with direct long-haul fiber experience required.
Strong understanding of OSP design, construction practices, fiber installation, splicing, and testing.
Proven success managing contractors, inspectors, and field teams.
Experience with rural plowing, boring, and aerial/buried construction methods.
Familiarity with permitting, material tracking, and project billing.
Technical Skills
Working knowledge of fiber optic design and engineering principles.
Proficiency in project management and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
Understanding of telecom standards, safety compliance, and quality assurance.
Leadership & Communication
Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
Ability to lead diverse field teams and drive production goals.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
OSHA 30 or Confined Space certifications preferred.
Full-time, based in Grand Island, NE.
Primarily office-based with frequent field travel to project sites.
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work outdoors as needed.
Must pass background, MVR, and drug screening.
