CNC Machinist / Setup (3rd Shift)

9:00pm-6:00am
Location:
Santa Ana, CA
Pay Range:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
The CNC Machinist/Setup Technician is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines in a fast‑paced production environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring high‑precision manufacturing, efficient workflow, and quality output.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up CNC lathes, mills, manual machines, and inspection equipment quickly and accurately to support production schedules.
Maintain and update setup procedures for all critical machining processes.
Interpret blueprints, job routings, and tooling instructions to consistently achieve close tolerances.
Transfer programs to various CNC machines using computer systems.
Inspect machined parts for dimensional accuracy and visual quality against specifications.
Complete all required production documentation, including part measurements and shop floor paperwork.
Train and mentor junior machinists, particularly in machine setup and best practices.
Operate multiple machines simultaneously when cycle times allow.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational goals.
Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience
3+ years of experience in CNC mill and lathe setup.
Able to read and interpret blueprints.
In-depth understanding of machine shop and tool room practices.
Knowledge of machining properties for various metals.
Proficiency in CNC equipment setup, operation, and tool adjustments.
Strong mechanical aptitude, math skills, and analytical problem‑solving ability.
Experience using precision‑measuring tools and inspection equipment.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
Other Requirements
Criminal background check and pre‑employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
Brother, Haas, and Mazak
machine controls.
Familiarity with writing or editing CNC programs.
