MTSI is seeking an experienced

Mission Support Engineer

to support an advanced air platform program. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and implementing mission planning systems while providing debrief analysis to improve operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will contribute to system integration, operational readiness, and mission success by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges in modern warfare scenarios.

Responsibilities

Mission Planning: develop and coordinate mission planning processes tailored to advanced air platform requirements; integrate mission planning software and systems with other operational tools and technologies, including avionics, communications, and weapons platforms.

Debrief Execution and Analysis: conduct thorough post‑mission debriefs using data analysis tools to capture lessons learned and ensure operational improvements; deliver actionable feedback on mission performance, system behavior, and operational execution to improve mission outcomes.

System Integration and Testing: support the integration of mission planning and debrief tools into broader system architectures, ensuring seamless functionality across subsystems; create and execute test plans to validate mission planning systems and tools against performance objectives and DoD standards.

Technical Documentation and Reporting: develop technical reports, guides, and presentations to communicate mission outcomes and system capabilities to stakeholders; document mission planning procedures and debrief processes to ensure consistency and compliance with operational standards.

Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration: work closely with systems engineers, software developers, pilots, and program managers to ensure mission planning systems align with program requirements; act as a liaison between operational, technical, and logistics teams to maintain alignment on mission‑critical objectives.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

7+ years of experience in mission planning, system integration, or a related field within aerospace or defense programs.

Proficiency with mission planning tools and software, such as JMPS (Joint Mission Planning System) or similar platforms.

Experience conducting technical analysis and performance assessments for mission‑critical systems.

Strong understanding of operational requirements for advanced air platforms, including avionics, communications, and weapons systems.

Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Desired

12+ years of experience in mission planning, system integration, or a related field within aerospace or defense programs.

Certifications validating proficiency in mission planning systems and DoD frameworks:

Certified Mission Planner (CMP) - Specialization in mission planning systems and processes.

INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP): Demonstrates systems engineering expertise for mission systems integration.

Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Certification: Expertise in spatial data integration for mission planning tools.

CompTIA Security+ or CISSP: Foundational cybersecurity certifications.

DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Certification: Expertise in creating operational and technical architectures for mission planning.

Familiarity with debriefing software and tools for analyzing mission data.

Experience with weapon systems, sensors, and tactical communications integration in mission planning platforms.

Exceptional communication and analytical skills for conveying technical concepts and performance outcomes.
