Responsibilities Location: Wichita, KS

Operating, developing, constructing, laying out, installing, servicing, rebuilding, maintaining, investigating, modifying, and correcting malfunctions on all types of electrical/electronic power transmission/distribution and generation equipment, circuits and systems including medium voltage equipment and associated controls, according to applicable manufacturers, industry, regulatory standards, shop practices, and procedures.

Performing initial checkout/functional testing and commissioning of company assets that have been installed, repaired, or rebuilt to ensure proper functioning of the control, protection, and monitoring systems.

Performing maintenance, construction, operation, installation, repair, and rebuild of typical Utility Type Transmission and Distribution equipment: electrical power generation/distribution equipment, lighting systems for plant facilities and microprocessor-controlled equipment related to power distribution equipment, and test equipment, according to applicable shop theories, practices, and procedures.

Performing system operation functions under the direction of the designated system operator.

Investigating and correcting electrical/electronic malfunctions using test panels and testing devices as required to complete work assignments.

Following the safety regulations in the power distribution procedures to perform work on equipment associated with the plant’s electrical power transmission, distribution, and generation systems, including but not limited to power transformers, circuit breakers, distribution centers, high-voltage power cable, data, monitoring, control, SCADA systems, communication and associated software and components of typical company assets.

Performing initial checkout of company assets that have been installed, repaired, or rebuilt to ensure proper functioning of control, protection and monitoring systems.

Performing initial setting installation, functional testing, verification/correction of documentation, investigation, and correction of electrical, electronic, and fiber optic malfunctions on primary system control, protection, and metering systems.

Working with electrical power generation/transmission/distribution equipment and systems including microprocessor-controlled devices and associated test equipment.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 1 year(s) of experience pertaining to the skills identified.

All candidates must be able to work any shift; this is a first shift position.

All candidates must pass the WorkKeys Assessment or provide verification that they have passed the WorkKeys Assessment. Delay in completing the assessment will result in a delay in the start date. Candidates may complete the assessment in advance of an interview.

IMPORTANT WorkKeys note: Any person scheduling their WorkKeys Assessment will be required to present two (2) forms of identification to be verified before their scheduled date for the WorkKeys Assessment. Preferred: Associate’s degree in a technical field. This is a high voltage position and previous high voltage experience is highly preferred.
