Are you a committed and innovative Occupational Therapist passionate about assisting students in Bronx develop the essential skills they need to thrive academically and independently? Knowledge Road is looking for a part‑time Occupational Therapist to become part of our team and deliver critical support to students in NYC Department of Education schools. With a substantial city‑wide shortage of related service providers, your expertise is urgently required to assist students develop crucial life skills and reach their full potential. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with varied needs through evidence‑based occupational therapy interventions.
Responsibilities
Deliver direct, high‑quality occupational therapy services to students in individual and group settings, as required by their Individualized Education Service Programs / Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).
Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess students' fine motor, visual‑motor, sensory processing, and activities of daily living skills.
Design and implement evidence‑based treatment plans utilizing sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.
Create and modify classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive technology to promote student participation and independence.
Partner extensively with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
Deliver consultation and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment use, and sensory strategies.
Keep meticulous and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes in alignment with DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.
Take an active role in IESP/IEP meetings, contributing expert occupational therapy insights and evidence‑based recommendations.
Qualifications
Valid NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) registration.
A minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in a school‑based or pediatric setting.
Competence with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.
NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to complete prior to start.
Schedule & Location This is a part‑time, school‑day or after‑school position with a schedule that aligns with the NYC DOE calendar. You will provide services on‑site at one or more schools or at the child's home in Bronx, with assignments determined by student needs. Hours per week are based on IESP/IEP mandates; caseload may fluctuate by assignment. Typically ~5‑15 hours/week in school‑day blocks.
Compensation $75/hr (1099)
