Job Title: EHS Specialist – Environment, Health and Safety Specialist
Location: Dallas, TX, Longterm Contract
Summary
Our client is seeking an Environment, Health and Safety Specialist to join their team. The
EHS Specialist
will utilize existing procedures and knowledge to provide technical support to the plant through coordination of EHS activities and programs. This role supports the implementation, execution, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety systems for the plant. As the Senior EHS Specialist, you will collaborate with the Corporate EHS team, Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams on various projects and initiatives. This position will also provide support to other EHS Specialists within the network and reports directly to the Director of EHS. Essential Duties: Guide Environmental, Health, and Safety activities at one or more locations. Practice safe working techniques and reinforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures. Monitor site-specific EHS indicators. Support strategic initiatives within the plants. Lead incident investigations, develop corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned. Review accidents and incidents, conduct audits, oversee corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. Lead environmental compliance efforts and monitor permit requirements. Identify and track training programs related to environmental responsibilities. Act as EHS Subject Matter Expert, responding to questions from plants and stakeholders. Coordinate with Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering on facility deficiencies. Conduct audits to monitor improvements in personnel and workspace safety. Drive EHS management system through proactive engagement and policy enforcement. Ensure integration of Corporate EHS applications into operations. Identify and implement local changes to enhance the EHS management system. Use the EHS Enterprise System (Gensuite) to record and analyze incidents and recommend corrective actions. Partner with plant leadership to ensure a risk-free environment and oversee EHS training for new employees. Report findings from investigations, inspections, and audits to leadership. Utilize data to improve training, SOPs, JSAs, and safety tools. Coordinate with Human Resources on Workers' Compensation cases. Collaborate with industry vendors and SMEs related to EHS needs. Support sustainability assessments and initiatives within the plant. Assist plant leadership with capital project planning aligned with sustainability efforts. Conduct hazard and operability studies on processes. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, or CEP are preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience in workplace EHS program management (preferred). Knowledge of Process Safety Management concepts is a plus. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental policies, safety engineering, and incident investigation procedures. Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills (Google Suite). Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
