Senior Cloud Engineer - Self Service Solutions

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer! As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be a part of Bayer's Pharma Data & AI Team. You will lead the strategic development and management of our data foundation self‑service solutions end‑to‑end, empowering users with robust capabilities and training while ensuring high standards of security, performance, and cost efficiency.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the administration, configuration, and optimization of cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake), concentrating optimization efforts specifically on self‑service use cases, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

Develop and enforce self‑service standards, best practices, and governance models to empower users in managing their own data access and resource utilization efficiently and securely.

Implement cost management strategies, equipping users with visibility into their resource usage and spending to promote responsible self‑service practices.

Evaluate and roll out new features that enhance self‑service capabilities, establishing a feedback loop for continuous improvement of the user experience.

Drive user adoption of self‑service capabilities by delivering training sessions, creating comprehensive documentation, and providing ongoing technical support.

Collaborate with DevOps, data engineering, analytics, and business teams to understand platform needs and anticipate future requirements.

Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and data engineering teams to embed security best practices and compliance requirements into infrastructure, applications, and data workflows.

Identify and pursue opportunities for personal growth in both technical and non‑technical skills, proactively completing tasks and initiatives without the need for direction.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field

5+ years of experience in cloud data platform engineering, administration, or architecture roles.

Good programming skills (SQL, Python) for platform management and operational tasks.

Excellent expertise in system and software architecture

Basic knowledge of the Modern Data Stack, including technologies such as dbt, Dagster, and Snowflake

Basic knowledge with data catalog and data lineage solutions

Good knowledge with integration platforms/standards like Airbyte and python packages like dltHub

Good knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks

Proven experience in delivering reusable software assets and managing developer communities.

Good communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.

Good analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to platform improvement and future‑proofing.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Good inter‑cultural understanding and experience working in global, cross‑functional teams.
