Job Description

As a Production Assistant, you play a key role in supporting both live and recorded content by handling a variety of technical production tasks. Your responsibilities can range from control room operations using Ross Overdrive and Xpression, remote camera operation, audio adjustments, video editing and studio maintenance.

In this role, you’ll also coordinate ENG remotes—tuning in live shots, pinpointing field crew locations, and setting up communication links. Essential Functions

  • May be responsible for newscast editing, tuning in live shots and ingesting video or commercials or assisting in the operation of automated production equipment including Ross Cambots, Ross Overdrive and Xpression.
  • Participate in live and taped field operations for special events, on site and remote productions. Operate ENG style cameras, assist with cellular bonded transmission capability, setup of equipment for production of live and taped programming.
  • Monitor and be actively involved with quality assurance, responsible for on‑air readiness and pre‑show equipment checks. Take a hands‑on role in the care and upkeep of production studios, broadcast equipment including but not limited to studio cameras, set pieces, lighting and audio equipment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience with related production work in one or more of the following areas including but not limited to Audio, Automated Production Control broadcast, Production Graphics, Non‑Linear video editing, Production and ENG camera operation

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability to work any of a 24/7 shift including holidays and weekends, and responding to breaking news events
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
  • Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be a member or be willing to become a member of the IBEW union
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
  • Required On‑Site: This position is required to be performed full‑time from an NBCUniversal designated worksite

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production‑related role within a live broadcast environment
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, especially under pressure
  • Strong interest in and awareness of current news events
  • Self‑motivated team player with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Dalet Galaxy
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and emerging skills in other Creative Cloud applications like After Effects and Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook and Teams
  • Education in broadcast communications or journalism from a college or vocational school
