Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Oversees the performance of diagnostic x-ray procedures, technology, techniques and equipment. Schedules, trains and clinically supervises radiologic technologists and support care staff.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Coordinates and designs Radiologic Technologist and support care staff work schedules; assigns duties to staff to maintain quality patient care and patient flow to ensure appropriate coverage and achieve production goals.
3. *Oversees staff in the operation of imaging equipment such as radiographic machines, fluoroscopes, mobile radiographic systems and PACS; evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance as needed; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
4. Facilitates demonstration of new techniques, i.e. equipment and procedures to staff.
5. *Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
6. *Provides input into staff job performance evaluations; monitors clinical performance, provides guidance and constructively influences staff morale; coordinates annual competencies for staff including documentation of completion.
7. Completes staff competency evaluations on an annual basis.
8. *Uses sterile technique as required.
9. *Performs venipuncture.
10. *Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems; coordinates and maintains x-ray quality assurance and daily work activities; responsible for lead apron integrity checks.
11. *Competently utilizes all department computer systems including Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Scheduling System, teleradiology, PACS, and other systems; provides training and support to staff for all department computer systems.
12. *Oversees the care and imaging of patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
13. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
14. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
15. Coordinates the departments quality improvement plan as required.
16. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies Radiology Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
17. Advances work knowledge by participating in continuing education inservices, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities; attends departmental, educational and hospital committee meetings as required.
18. *Coordinates departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
19. Orders supplies and assists with stocking; keeps work areas properly supplied.
20. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge of radiologic positioning, use of technical factors and radiation safety practices.
2. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to radiography.
3. Skill in operating radiologic equipment, imaging capture devices, PACS and other related systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Current Medical Radiographer licensure from the State of Nebraska required. One (1) year of experience as a full-time radiologic technologist required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
