Position Overview

The Labor and Delivery Unit at Albany Medical Center provides comprehensive maternal and neonatal care for high- and moderate-risk pregnancies. Nurses in this role are responsible for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient care, as well as immediate newborn assessment and stabilization. Candidates must have

a minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience

and

current Epic charting experience

EFM certification

through the

National Certification Corporation

or

Intermediate AWHONN

(issued within the past 3 years) is required at the time of submission. Navy blue scrubs are required. Local candidates (as defined by AMC’s ineligible counties list) are

not accepted

Active NY RN License or Compact License – Required (must be in hand at submission) Experience:

Core Skills & Competencies

Comprehensive L&D nursing (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum) Electronic fetal monitoring and fetal strip interpretation Labor induction and augmentation protocols (Pitocin, Cytotec, Cervidil) Management of epidural and spinal anesthesia Newborn stabilization and immediate postnatal care Emergency response for OB complications (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, cord prolapse) Operating room and recovery care for C-sections Patient and family education on labor process and postpartum care Other Skills

Collaboration with physicians, midwives, and anesthesia teams Rapid response participation for obstetric emergencies Strict adherence to infection control and newborn safety standards Compassionate patient and family communication Facility & Unit Details
