Accounting Manager (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: South Los Angeles – on site first 90 days, then hybrid (3 days onsite)

Pay: Up to $46/hr depending on experience

Start Date: ASAP

A well‑established nonprofit in South Los Angeles is seeking an Accounting Manager on a contract‑to‑hire basis. This newly created role reports to the Director of Finance and oversees a team of five. The organization ranks in the top 10% of nonprofits for its excellent benefits and offers strong growth potential – a path to Associate Director of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a 5‑person accounting team.
• Oversee A/P, A/R, payroll (including biweekly stipends), and G/L.
• Manage payments and allocations for 130+ grants.
• Handle month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and data integrity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience with supervisory duties.
• NetSuite proficiency required.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivots, VLOOKUPs, reporting).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
