We are seeking a dynamic

General Manager

to oversee operations at

Courtyard by Marriott El Paso Downtown/Convention Center . The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of branded hotel operations with exceptional financial leadership and a contemporary approach to guest service. You’ll be responsible for driving profitability, maintaining brand standards, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. We welcome candidates ready to relocate and commit to the El Paso market. Strong communication skills, a stable career history, and the ability to connect authentically with guests and teams are essential.

The General Manager is responsible for the full operation of the hotel and all outlets, including hotel operations, food and beverage, sales, engineering, human resources and accounting. The General Manager is expected to meet all company standards and lead the 5 Key Drivers identified by the management company.

Core Responsibilities

Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.

Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, maintaining positive guest relations at all times.

Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction in each interaction.

Coordinate special programs, functions and incentives to improve guest service.

Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates.

Effectively lead the Executive Committee to reach the goals of the property.

Develop and assure achievement of hotel revenues and profits, utilizing forecasting, P&L management, RevPAR.

Ensure the property is compliant in all departments, growing the business year over year.

Ensure product quality is of a level to allow future bookings of room nights, banquet sales and food & beverage to achieve increasing pricing goals as warranted to maximize revenue.

Coach and develop leaders to exceed performance expectations.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management or a related business field preferred.

Experience: Minimum five (5) years as a General Manager in a branded hotel environment.

Stability: A stable job history is highly preferred.

Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of P&L control with proven ability to:

Analyze revenue streams and expense categories.

Identify financial trends and variances.

Make strategic decisions to improve margins.

Communicate financial performance confidently to ownership and corporate teams.

Demonstrated success in cost control and expense management.

Leadership: Skilled in driving team accountability for financial and operational results through clear expectations and consistent follow‑through.

Operational Expertise: Experience managing multi‑departmental teams and day‑to‑day hotel operations.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compliance: Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Relocation Commitment: We are willing to consider candidates open to relocating to El Paso, provided they have a clear desire to make a long‑term commitment to the location.

Preferred Qualifications

Hotel Leadership: Extensive GM experience, ideally five (5)+ consecutive years in a select‑service branded hotel (Marriott or Hilton preferred).

Owner Relations: Proven ability to manage highly engaged ownership groups with frequent site visits; communicates property performance with professionalism and transparency.

Hands‑On Management: Willingness to lead by example and be actively involved in daily operations.

Team Development: Strong leadership skills with experience recruiting, training, and motivating high‑performing teams.

Brand Compliance: Familiarity with Marriott brand standards and ability to ensure consistent execution.

Market Knowledge: Understanding of the El Paso Downtown market, including:

Demand Drivers: Convention Center events, business travel, military presence, and cross‑border tourism.

Rate Strategy: Align pricing with seasonal demand and local events while maintaining brand standards.

Customer Service: Proven ability to anticipate guest needs and ensure a consistently positive guest experience.

Modern Service Perspective: Ability to lead with a contemporary approach to hospitality—bringing a modern‑day lens to guest service and engaging naturally with diverse guests and teams.
