Figure
Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.
We are looking for a Senior FEA Engineer to design, analyze, and test key hardware components for our humanoid.
Responsibilities
Define and analyze load cases for our humanoid robot
Analyze full robot stiffness
Create finite element models to analyze falling, overload, durability and day to day operations
Optimize design of parts and structures for minimizing weight and maximizing stiffness
Work with mechanical team to develop FEA workflow and tutorials
Collaborate with mechanical, industrial design and electrical teams to architect the system
Test systems in the real world and compare against finite element models. Pay close attention to modeling of bearing and other OTS components.
Collaborate with controls engineers to determine load profiles
Help define materials (metals, polymers and textiles) for critical robot components
Requirements
Expert knowledge of solid mechanics
Expert in setting up and running implicit and explicit finite element analysis models
Experience modeling metals and polymers
Experience with durability analysis methods
Experience working with suppliers to characterize new polymers
Bonus Qualifications
CATIA V6 Experience
Expert in ABAQUS
Experience with soft goods materials including textiles
Experience working with system level modeling and physics engines such as MuJoCo
Modeling of structural resonance frequency
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $150,000 and $225,000 annually. The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
