Senior Partnership Accounting Analyst
– Financial Operations team at
Morrison Foerster .
Based in San Francisco or New York; global partner compensation and capital account expertise required.
Responsibilities
Maintain partners’ capital accounts, profit distributions and partner inquiries.
Process and review scheduled partner distributions, tax withholdings and retro‑active adjustments in Ascentis.
Communicate with Finance Managers in foreign offices for year‑end true‑ups and distribution changes.
Collaborate with HR, Benefits and Payroll to set up new partners and existing partners in the payroll system.
Coordinate retention deductions, loan repayments and retirement plan contributions with the Retirement Manager.
Assist the Billing group with partners’ personal expense deductions and provide expense approvals.
Track partner leaves and provide periodic distribution schedules for partners on leave.
Develop and maintain cash flow schedules for partners in London, Berlin, Brussels and Singapore; prepare and wire multi‑currency distribution payments.
Determine partners’ charitable contribution allocations; coordinate with Foundation administration and the European Finance Manager.
Research and respond to partner inquiries promptly.
Identify process improvement opportunities and design change initiatives with the Partnership Accounting Manager.
Prepare, process, and review periodic profit distributions and set up initial gross distribution amounts for each partner.
Qualifications
Four‑year university degree in Finance or Accounting; five plus years’ experience in a large international law firm or professional services firm.
Hands‑on experience in partner compensation highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of partnership finance, compensation and related processes; ability to advise and guide others.
Ability to take assignments from inception to completion with minimal supervision.
Provide work direction and training to other Partnership Accounting Analysts.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build internal and external client relationships.
Advanced proficiency in Excel with complex formulas and intelligent spreadsheet design.
Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Available to work overtime as needed.
