Job Overview APTIM is seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive experience managing Federal fixed-price performance-based remediation projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing projects associated with the characterization and remediation of sites impacted by various constituents of concern under CERCLA and/or RCRA, including but not limited to radiological contaminants and emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 1,4-Dioxane. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives and regulatory stakeholders.

This is a full-time position, with preference to be based out of our San Diego Office location. The Project Manager will perform project management duties and responsibilities for projects of all phases and scopes, including engineering, procurement, construction, and/or operations. Duties include directing the preparation of work plans, supervising project teams, and managing project scope, budget, and schedule. The position will be part of an operations team and will work on specialized projects.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Verbal and written communication with clients, partners, and APTIM leadership.

Manage a multi-discipline technical team to execute projects for APTIM.

Ensure client deliverables are identified and met through effective management of each assigned project component and its associated staff.

Supervise daily activities of project personnel, including technical and administrative support, ensuring deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.

Travel to the project site as needed to monitor activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Identify and communicate staffing needs to APTIM leadership to resolve requirements.

Maintain awareness and ensure successful execution of required client invoicing and associated deadlines.

Monitor and control costs.

Understand relationships between work processes and company goals.

Coordinate required monitoring and reporting of project financial status to APTIM leadership.

Work alongside project teaming partners (e.g., joint venture or prime/sub) to ensure successful project execution.

Coordinate internal training for project staff as needed to adhere to program or project requirements.

Direct work associated with environmental projects and related documents.

Identify, recommend, and justify change orders.

May have responsibility for multiple projects.

Assist in preparing and updating all assigned project schedules, including subcontractors and material deliveries.

Assist in pre-construction activities including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review, and assembly of final project budget.

Ensure project safety needs and metrics are met.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in one of the interdisciplinary academic fields integrated into environmental sciences and/or environmental engineering (e.g., geology, hydrogeology, geophysics).

Professional Engineer licensed in California or a Professional Geologist registered in California.

Minimum of five years of Project Manager experience in field services, environmental compliance, restoration, O&M, monitoring and reporting.

Minimum eight years of environmental remediation project execution, including both site characterization and remediation technologies similar in scope and scale to those in this PWS.

Experience conducting environmental remediation in sensitive ecological areas and completing remedial actions to facilitate property transfer.

Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of program- or project-specific laws, policies, procedures, and correspondence.

Demonstrated experience in successful cost, schedule, and contract management of environmental restoration projects.

Experience relaying technical subject matter to diverse audiences including Federal Government agencies, regulatory agencies, and the general public.

Experience on radiological environmental projects is a plus.

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen to obtain base access necessary to support the projects.

40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with a current 8‑hour refresher certificate preferred.

Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.

Ability to travel to project locations; travel estimated at 20‑30% annually.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $115,000 to $150,000. Compensation depends on factors including experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees.
