Responsibilities
Work with the Divisional General Manager and the leadership team to formulate the business’s medium to long term financial and strategic plans.
Partner with division management to ensure project revenue and costs are recognized to the appropriate construction project and in conformity with GAAP.
Provide reports and analysis to help ensure projects meet or exceed financial targets.
Prepare divisional financial statements according to accounting close schedules, conforming with GAAP, government regulations, and company policies.
Coordinate the compilation of divisional budgets and forecasts.
Prepare timely monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings, including any needed reconciliations.
Manage A/R and A/P processing and ensure timely reconciliation of all divisional balance sheet accounts.
Ensure Job Status Report and work in process entries are accurate and completed on schedule.
Improve inventory controls and ensure inventory is accurately recorded and reconciled.
Ensure that material sales are invoiced within 2 business working days.
Run the monthly financial reviews with Operations and the Corporate team.
Ensure equipment usage, fuel and other expenses are recorded accurately and on time.
Establish and maintain internal controls that ensure the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
Proactively identify and lead process improvements within the department and across the company.
Partner with division management to ensure management has financial support to understand and analyze financials and make informed business decisions.
Manage and develop accounting staff; ensure staff has training and resources to complete all monthly/daily financial transactions effectively.
Support the Corporate Controller in external reporting, audits, tax filings, and other related tasks.
File timely and accurate State and Local taxes and business license.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with customers, clients, co‑workers and management.
Complete divisional and corporate document preparation, organization, and filing as required.
Engage in special projects and research as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise four other positions.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with peers, executive management, and customers.
Proven leadership qualities.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects using strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work and a strong commitment to corporate goals.
Capability to function under fast‑paced, stressful working conditions.
Solid experience coordinating the annual budgeting process, creating ad hoc financial analysis models, and analyzing investment opportunities using NPV, IRR, etc.
Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels and create a positive, supportive work environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in accounting or finance – CPA preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the construction industry.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing an accounting team.
Experience managing month‑end processes.
Balance sheet reconciliation experience.
Strong customer service skills with good writing and communication abilities.
Demonstrated success in a self‑starting, upbeat, demanding/opportunistic environment.
Prior experience as an assistant or controller (highly desired).
Vista Viewpoint (ERP) knowledge is preferred.
Advanced Excel skills and ability to create SQL pivot tables.
