Overview
Medical Science Liaison (MSL, Immunology/Rheumatology) - North Central at argenx. This role focuses on medical and scientific expertise in rheumatology pipeline indications and acts as a field-based extension of the Medical team. The MSL represents argenx values as a science-driven, patient-centric organization and engages with key stakeholders to provide scientific data, products, and trial information. Reports to the MSL Director, Immunology Rheumatology Medical Science Liaisons in the respective region. Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise in relevant diseases, compounds, development indications, and treatment plans. Be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert in aligned areas. Partner with Medical Affairs, HEOR, Patient Advocacy and other stakeholders to build internal understanding of pipeline opportunities. Identify high-impact medical research projects and publication opportunities aligned with argenx interests (e.g., white papers, guidelines). Attend local, national, and international meetings to gather intelligence and develop collaborations; share insights within argenx. KOL engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare KOLs in Rheumatology to collaborate on research projects, advisory boards, and educational initiatives. Collaborate with KOLs on evidence generation including sponsored, translational, and outcomes research. Identify and support principal investigators for ongoing/planned clinical trials; promote trial engagement through scientific exchanges and presentations. Ensure timely, compliant scientific/medical exchanges that reflect data and research objectives; tailor engagement strategies to stakeholder archetypes. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure launch readiness and patient-focused operations; respond to internal/external requests for medical affairs support. Skills and Competencies
Cross-therapeutic area, portfolio-oriented mindset with ability to work with cross-functional teams. Scientific and customer-centric mindset with a track record of delivering results. Ability to build relationships with external stakeholders (medical experts, healthcare professionals). Strong collaboration across teams with diverse technical backgrounds. Ability to quickly understand complex diseases, treatments, and development plans. Thorough understanding of clinical trial phases and execution. Problem solving, autonomy to assess priorities and adapt decisions in real time. Flexible to travel within the region, USA, and globally as needed. Education, Experience and Qualifications
Scientific, healthcare, or medical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO). 3+ years of field-based MSL experience in biopharmaceuticals. Preference for candidates located in targeted cities or within reasonable distance to a major airport within the territory. Strong clinical and scientific knowledge in rheumatology; immunology and/or rare diseases is a plus. Experience supporting clinical trial sites as an MSL is preferred. Strong knowledge of the US healthcare landscape, hospital systems, and healthcare professionals. Understanding of compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements related to HCP interactions. Ability to translate market research and data-driven insights into actionable strategies. Proficient in Microsoft Office and VEEVA.
