Director of Sales-Beauty — BOTH Sell In and Sell Through – LA Our client is a growing prestige beauty brand in LA. We’re searching for a strong Director of Sales & Education based in LA who has current sell‑in experience with Sephora.

Job Description The Director of Sales will lead and direct the execution of all wholesale functions for the US and Canada, identify new global whitespace opportunities, partner with retailers to develop, plan and execute new and innovative strategies, and lead continued strong sales growth. This position oversees Agency Field Sales teams, Regional Field Sales teams, their network of Beauty Advisors, as well as the Retail Excellence and Education teams. The Head of Sales ensures seamless execution of retail and clienteling strategies across all locations, delivering a best‑in‑class brand presence and client experience while achieving business and financial targets. Responsibilities include managing, growing, developing and mentoring the wholesale team, spearheading the Education program, and visual merchandising. In addition, the Head of Sales will be a strong cross‑functional partner across every department within the organization.

Leadership – attract, develop, and retain high‑performing and diverse talent; lead by example and enable them to realize their full potential.

Strategic Approach – responsible for overall brand account strategies, account performance, and brand awareness; set vision and strategy for Account Leads and Sales Planning while partnering with Marketing, Creative, Product Development, Operations & Finance.

New Product Development – provide expertise in the NPD cycle to identify key product attributes that drive pricing and maximize profitability.

Marketing Collaboration – collaborate with Marketing to execute campaign roll‑out, trade marketing plans, masterclasses, services, and events that strengthen brand‑client relationships and support sales.

Retail Expertise – comprehensive understanding of Sephora & retailer programming dynamics, local market & corporate nuances that drive product/category merchandising to optimize retail sales.

Negotiation & Alignment – align business plans and activities with all retail partners and the global brand vision.

In‑store Productivity – drive year‑over‑year step‑function improvements in store productivity.

Whitespace Identification – balance multiple relationships and workload across retailers while identifying retail opportunities.

Omnichannel Integration – integrate B&M accounts and Rembeauty.com into a consistent omnichannel experience.

Marketing Calendar – partner with Marketing to generate a focused company view on marketing and co‑op calendars.

Retail Excellence And Operations

Ensure teams deliver a best‑in‑class luxury client experience across all points of sale.

Manage sales operations and logistics for FBB network, including inventory management, loss prevention, security, and compliance.

Define targets by retailer and door, provide Field teams with reporting tools and metrics, and ensure consistency and efficiencies across regions.

Partner with Marketing to equip field teams with the right tools and communication flows to drive sales.

Leverage client analytics to inform Field teams, improve top line with right mix by axis, driving recruitment, retention and loyalty.

Education

Develop and implement education strategies to enhance team skills, product knowledge, and operational expertise.

Oversee creation and facilitation of training programs, including online Beauty Advisor training, internal education app content, and in‑person programs in partnership with Field Teams.

Foster leadership and development of specialist communities (e.g., Makeup Artists, Fragrance Specialists, Skincare Specialists).

Direct deployment of axis expertise to ensure consistent knowledge and execution across locations, partnering with Marketing to support major campaigns and product launches.

Financial

Own overall P&L for accounts, including retail sales budget, co‑op, freelance, promo, sampling, sets and CAPEX; maximize ROI and ensure efficient spend within budget.

Leverage internal sales trends, market and consumer data via NPD/Circana to develop accurate estimates for future product launches and sales trends by category and subcategory.

Your Profile / Requirements

8+ years of sales leadership experience with a minimum of 6 years in the beauty/cosmetics wholesale industry and must be current.

Must live in LA!

5+ years of direct P&L ownership across multiple retailers/channels in a high‑growth environment.

Direct exposure and strong relationships with Sephora, Amazon and other key domestic and global beauty retailers.

Exhibits a keen ability to proactively handle a multitude of projects at one time.

Professionally deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.

Highly collaborative & passionate team player with a positive & professional attitude.

Has an entrepreneurial & a "Go-Getter" approach, is goal‑oriented and proactively drives to push the team forward.

Highly organized and detail‑oriented.

Proficiency in NetSuite, Canva, Excel.

Ability to travel up to 25‑35% as needed.
