Position Overview The Counselor Trainee will assist patients through medically‑assisted programs and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patients’ progress during therapy, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists to provide the best overall outcome.

Responsibilities

Conduct initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination

Facilitate, establish, and review the initial treatment plan with each patient

Complete a bio‑psychosocial assessment

Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible

Develop aftercare and discharge plans

Handle stressful situations and interact effectively with others

Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor

Qualifications

Applicants must currently hold an ADT or ADT‑eligible status in the State of Maryland

Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus and a positive, non‑judgmental attitude toward the patient population is required

Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen

Salary Range Salary ranges from $44,000 – $80,000 annualized. (This position is non‑exempt, overtime eligible with prior approval). The salary will be set based on experience, education, licensure, and training.
