Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all secondary school athletic programs, provide guidance to principals and athletic coordinators regarding UIL and District athletics policies.
Coordinate all secondary school athletics programs, including education and training of UIL and District policies to campus athletics coaches and staff.
Lead all football operations, including but not limited to scheduling, transportation, UIL related tasks, and realignment.
Develop sports schedules for other assigned sports and assist coaches with post‑season games, tournaments, and events including negotiation of ticket prices, officials, transportation, and sites for the events.
Initiate and assist in the coordination of new programs, opportunities, and events for student‑athletes, coaches, and staff.
Attend, represent, and assist with athletics events during the week, weekends, and holidays based on assigned responsibilities and as assigned by the assistant superintendent or executive director.
Increase the standard of performance and knowledge of campus athletics coordinators, coaches, and event staff through organization affiliations and training.
Keep abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments related to athletic programs and disseminate information to appropriate District personnel.
Assist campus coordinators and principals in the hiring process and collaborate with the appropriate District personnel in identifying and retaining quality athletics coaches.
Assist campus athletic coordinators and principals with interviews and onboarding of employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Assist in the strategic development of new revenue sources and sponsorships and in creating business partnerships locally within the community, regionally, and statewide.
Assist in parts of the Department’s business management operations including purchases of equipment and services, request for proposals, and the vendor set‑up process.
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university required in Education, Administration, or Related Field; Master’s Degree from an accredited university preferred.
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned required.
Head football coaching experience preferred.
5+ years of experience as a campus athletic coordinator, head football, director of athletics, principal, assistant principal, or related position in education.
2+ years of experience in supervisory preferred.
Demonstrates strong leadership, time management, and mentoring skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of overall operations of an athletics program, including UIL and District policies governing athletics.
Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills needed to develop professional relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and District personnel and stakeholders.
Demonstrates adaptability, empathy, and ability to resolve conflicts and maintain emotional control under stress.
Demonstrates strong organizational, technical, and managerial skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
