Civil Renewable Energy and Substation Engineer-In-Training – Portland, OR At David Evans and Associates, Inc., our Energy team provides infrastructure solutions for power delivery and renewable energy, offering planning and design for low- to high-voltage facilities. We ensure safe, reliable, and affordable electricity for communities across sectors including power generation, renewables, and transportation electrification. The Substation team seeks a Civil Renewable Energy and Substation Engineer-In-Training based near one of DEA’s offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Some travel for project execution may be required. The Engineer-in-Training will coordinate civil and site design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project execution for renewable energy and power delivery projects throughout the Midwest and Western United States. Responsibilities
Performs all aspects of substation civil design, including preparation of drawings and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D (constraints mapping, demolition and erosion control plans, site layout, fencing and protection, grading, drainage, and utility design). Understands and adheres to client standards and processes while working individually or in a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs. Reviews internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability. Prepares project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation. Attends site meetings and performs site observations during the construction phase of projects. Maintains complete project documentation with respect to civil design and construction, including completion packages, record drawings, and data returns. Maintains commitments to project teams and coordinates design activities with multi-disciplined project team members. Maintains good working relationships with internal groups (Procurement, Drafting, Project Management, etc.) and with clients, material suppliers, and contractors to support project quality, schedule, and cost. Required Qualifications
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) from an ABET-accredited university 0.5+ years of civil design experience Proficiency with civil engineering analysis, drainage design, and hydraulic analysis; soil mechanics and retaining wall design are a plus Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D; working knowledge of MicroStation is a bonus Preferred Qualifications
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure or ability to obtain licensure in 6 months What We Offer
