Job Purpose The Hoover Institution seeks a dynamic Digital, Social Media, & Influencer Strategist to enhance online presence and engage multiple audiences. The role involves developing comprehensive social media strategies, managing digital campaigns, and collaborating with scholars and staff to promote research and events.
Core Duties
Develop and execute external influencer strategy to build the Hoover brand and disseminate scholars’ ideas.
Optimize Hoover’s presence on social media platforms and proactive audience engagement.
Optimize owned digital platforms (Hoover.org, Substack, multimedia hubs).
Ownership and management of multiple digital channels.
Oversee editorial and brand strategy and voice across channels.
Liaise with program teams, service teams, IT, campus partners to achieve program goals and ensure coordination.
Interact with other departments, organizations and senior staff.
Additional Core Duties – Influencer & Social Strategy
Influencer Identification: research audiences aligned with Hoover’s mission.
Campaign Development: design and execute influencer marketing campaigns.
Content Oversight: guide influencers on content alignment with brand and messaging.
Performance Analysis: work with analytics team to evaluate partnership success via engagement, reach, conversions.
Social Media Strategy Development: design and implement strategies aligned with institutional objectives.
Content Calendar Management: develop and manage calendar with community manager.
Audience Analysis: research target demographics, preferences and behaviors.
Platform Management: oversee presence on social media platforms, ensuring platform‑specific best practices.
Engagement Strategies: develop and implement strategies to increase audience engagement.
Digital Marketing Strategy: develop and implement comprehensive digital strategies that align with goals.
Web Strategy Development: assist the web team with comprehensive strategies for online presence.
Trend Monitoring: stay informed about emerging digital trends and technologies.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education and experience). Knowledge of web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Strong strategic outlook and ability to leverage trends to help organization succeed.
Subject matter expertise in digital community development.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with senior staff.
Experience leading highly‑functioning teams.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
SEO & SEM proficiency; understanding of search engine optimization and marketing strategies.
Paid Social & Digital Advertising experience; audience targeting and performance optimization.
Analytics & Performance Measurement; proficiency with Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite.
Multimedia Content Strategy; video, podcasting, and other multimedia format best practices.
Influencer & Partnership Negotiation; outreach, contract negotiation, relationship management.
Certifications and Licenses None required.
Physical Requirements
Constantly perform desk‑based computer tasks. Frequently sitting, occasionally standing/walking and reaching work above shoulders. Occasionally lift/carry objects up to 10 pounds. Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat or kneel/crawl.
Compensation Pay range: $134,164 – $154,529 per annum. Benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement, and various work‑life programs.
