Responsibilities Provide support to the facility by performing specific or various business office functions as assigned. These functions are to include (but not limited to): Medical Records, Credentialing, Admissions/Intake, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, Insurance Verification, Transaction, Posting, Clinical Logs and other duties as assigned.
Schedule surgeries in the system, handle calls from physicians regarding scheduling, and manage related patient information.
Answer phones in a pleasant manner, deal with physician offices and patient needs expeditiously, and take messages or transfer calls to other departments when necessary.
Perform pre‑registration and obtain authorization from the physician’s office prior to surgery, complete necessary paperwork, and use the computer system to generate information for surgical procedures.
Maintain a log for cancelled appointments.
Perform various clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reporting, faxing, and retrieving documents as needed.
Maintain a clean and orderly surgery scheduling area.
Verify all scheduled cases as soon as possible.
Contact patients who have financial responsibilities, inform them of payment policies, and offer payment options when necessary.
Document all insurance verification and patient calls clearly in the patient’s account.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
Minimum three years of experience in health care and minimum one year of experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
Ability to work independently as well as function within a team.
Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist and registration responsibilities; ability to handle stress.
Flexible with hours and able to work any shift that needs coverage.
