Job Summary PART-TIME AM SHIFT APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $68.70 - $87.03 POSITION SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Radiologist and supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and lead, the technologist is responsible for maintaining standards of quality in the Nuclear Medicine Department. Operates radioscopic equipment, such as scintillation detectors to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in a specific body area of a patient. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
Job Description / Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients. Studies physician's orders to determine specific isotopes required for each type of test ordered. Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas. Calibrates equipment according to the knowledge of standard settings to produce products of required diagnostic quality. Performs laboratory tests, such as blood volume, red cell survival and fat absorption studies on body specimens. Computes results of laboratory tests and calculates test results, using an electronic calculator and monograms, following specified statistical procedures. Maintains statistical records for imaging services and keeps records of tests conducted and test results. Records the disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes. Responsible for quality control studies and records. Performs related duties as requested. Demonstrates competence in the care of pediatric or frail elderly groups of patients (when/if assigned to these patients) relative to determining each patient's age-related and other physical, psycho-social and cultural needs, and carrying out patient care activities. Demonstrates a professional, polite, concerned, caring, compassionate and competent demeanor when providing patient care and interacting with co-workers and physicians. Unfailingly practices institutionally mandated education and patient safety rules, procedures and guidelines. Fully understands how to operate, troubleshoot, correct malfunctions, maintain and perform minor repairs on all of the equipment assigned to the technologist.
Additional Job Specific Classification Duties: Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Knowledgeable of the operations of the gamma camera and ADAC computer, scans patient with safety and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, schedules exams with regard to physician request and appropriateness of exam, assists the physician as directed, maintains adequate records and logs, maintains a professional and ethical relationship, ensures that all of the equipment operates properly and efficiently, orders and ensures safe handling of all radioactive materials, performs surveys and tests as they relate to radiation safety, in compliance with the California Code of Regulation, understands the functions of the Hospital's MIS System and the Diagnostic Imaging Management System.

Required Qualifications License/Certification: Current BCLS required, DOT Certification current, California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license preferred, Nuclear Technologist California certified, Nuclear Medicine Technologist required, NMTCB preferred. Proof of all required License(s) and Certification(s) due at time of hire. Education: Proof of all required education levels due at time of hire. Experience: Preferred. Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
