Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Training Specialist opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Training Specialist to support the development and delivery of technical and compliance training for an industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear sector. This role is responsible for ensuring that employees are properly trained to meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements, including NQA-1, DOE, and NRC standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated manufacturing environments and a strong understanding of instructional design and adult learning principles.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and deliver training programs for manufacturing, engineering, quality, and support staff
Ensure training materials and delivery methods align with NQA-1, DOE, NRC, and internal compliance standards
Conduct training needs assessments and collaborate with department leads to identify skill gaps
Maintain accurate training records and certifications using a Learning Management System (LMS)
Facilitate onboarding and orientation programs for new hires
Support audits and inspections by providing training documentation and demonstrating program effectiveness
Assist in the creation of technical manuals, SOPs, and job aids
Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback and performance metrics
Promote a culture of continuous learning, safety, and quality compliance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in training development and delivery, preferably in the nuclear, aerospace, or defense industries
Familiarity with NQA-1 and nuclear regulatory training requirements
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
Certification in instructional design or training (e.g., ATD, CPTD, OSHA Trainer)
Familiarity with complex systems or high-speed rotating equipment
Experience with cleanroom protocols and contamination control
Knowledge of adult learning theory and blended learning strategies
Other Job Requirements
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
