This position is responsible for modifying, installing, programming, and commissioning fire alarm systems in commercial environments. The technician will work closely with project managers and other field personnel to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Install fire alarm cabling and conduit for fire alarm devices.
Mount and configure notification and initiating devices.
Troubleshoot circuit issues, including ground faults and open circuits.
Program fire panels when adding initiating devices or installing new systems.
Perform pre-tests to verify proper system functionality.
Complete final inspections with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
Provide customer training when required.
Attend site meetings as needed.
Submit daily or weekly progress reports to the project manager, depending on the size and scope of the project.
Ensure that projects are completed on time and within the allotted labor hours.
Coordinate with the project manager to resolve any issues that arise during the project.
Complete all required project documentation.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of five years of experience working with fire alarm systems.
The ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Hands‑on experience with various fire alarm systems, including Gamewell FCI, Fire‑lite, and Silent Knight.
NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Skills And Certifications
NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification is highly preferred.
Experience working in commercial environments is essential.
The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is critical.
