Principal Production Master Scheduler & Planner

for 1st shift to join our team.

Overview Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, the Production Master Scheduler & Planner plans the sequence of assembly and other manufacturing operations related to specific portions of program and product deliverables for the manufacturing department. The role plans detail operations from blueprints, engineering orders, change notices, and other engineering releases. Responsibilities include preparing shop work orders, assisting the materials group and manufacturing engineering, working with the inventory system to support build requirements, and providing status of completed and in‑process work.

Responsibilities Include

Perform work order variance analysis and review MRP execution, ensuring accuracy of information, reconciling supply and demand, and validating master scheduling requirements.

Perform risk analysis, identifying and resolving critical path and MRP logic conflicts.

Analyze risks to identified solutions and bottlenecks, including forward and reverse scheduling methods, for schedule recovery.

Understand manufacturing capacity and allocate as required to meet build plan commitments. Expedite and reschedule open purchase orders to suit production‑planning requirements.

Create and release manufacturing orders based on bill‑of‑materials and configuration. Close work orders after sub‑assemblies, ensuring assemblies and integration are complete.

Track material shortages for manufacturing orders, kits, sub‑assemblies based on bill‑of‑material or drawings/configuration. Communicate to program team and management critical part shortages that will jeopardize ship schedule.

Maintain inventory including shelf‑life‑sensitive material and tooling for the program.

Coordinate and expedite flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments, according to manufacturing schedules or priorities, and compile and maintain manual or computerized record.

Prepare purchase requests for the purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.

Update work orders based on engineering change orders (ECOs).

Job Description

Analyze all scheduling reports including capacity base on work breakdown schedule, material requirements list, and production plans for work centers.

Understand how a Bill of Materials is developed and managed through the product life cycle, including identifying make‑and‑buy parts and revision control of parts.

Execute material requirements planning (MRP), capacity planning and other advanced material planning needs.

Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability and production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed; confirm material supply and demands.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a production control and manufacturing environment utilizing an MRP system required. In lieu of degree, related work experience will be considered.

Experience in rescheduling, canceling, opening and closing manufacturing orders per MRP.

Strong computer literacy using an ERP system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Understanding of capacity planning.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as well as walk or stand for extended timeframes.

US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and very tight timelines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification a plus.

Broad range of ERP systems other than SAP.

Detailed scheduling of work at a work cell experience.

Systems integration.

Microsoft Project.

Primary Level Salary Range:

$82,900.00 – $124,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
