Quality Control Specialist I
Responsible for checking, testing, and inspecting raw materials and products at different stages. Conduct routine analyses and tests of various components under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
Follow established procedures and guidelines to inspect raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods, comparing physical characteristics to technical specifications to identify defects. Conduct simple tests, record results, and prepare simple technical reports.
Perform visual and measurement inspection tests, including calculating distances, angles, radius tapers, thread and gear data using complex measuring equipment (e.g., Zeiss or Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines, Smartscope or RAM).
Utilize precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, comparators, master gauge blocks, indicators, surface gauges, surface plates, sine bars, etc.) to accept or reject parts so that product meets customer expectations and quality standards.
Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re‑work, confirming re‑work, and communicating required adjustments to appropriate personnel to ensure a quality product is released to the customer.
Read and interpret complex technical drawings and incorporate tight tolerances into the part inspection process.
Input and analyze statistical data using Infinity or other SPC software, document data obtained during all quality inspection processes, and examine statistical data to maintain quality and product reliability.
Operate inspection equipment, troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting product quality, and report problems to leadership as needed.
Serve as a “go‑to” person for quality control inspection procedures, training other employees as required, and ensuring inspection methods are consistent with quality standards and processes.
Conduct training classes related to inspection tools/equipment, processes, GD&T, and technical drawings.
Perform analytical tests using instrumentation/equipment and perform measurement calculations as needed.
Direct other department inspectors at the request of the team lead or supervisor in their absence.
Conduct internal audits in accordance with company and customer quality control standards.
Assist and/or perform additional duties as assigned.
Work any and all shifts/days as required.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
1–3 years of applicable product inspection experience
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with great attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and intermediate math skills.
Strong problem‑solving, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Requirements to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Qualified status on the use of multiple precision inspection equipment tools in the assigned area under limited supervision (micrometers, calipers, microscope, gauge blocks, spring scales, height gauges, FPI, video scopes, and lighting equipment).
Performs detail‑oriented tasks using basic language and intermediate math skills.
Target Hiring Range Hourly: USD 18.57 – USD 22.38
