Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Department of Child Safety (DCS) Program Administrator (PA), this position manages the workflow of placement referrals to find appropriate placement for children coming into DCS custody, completes tracking logs, and supports staff that engage in child safety services.

What Does a Case Manager-Placement Coordinator Do?

Evaluates incoming referrals and, with the direct supervisor, selects appropriate placement according to departmental and regional policies. Also schedules medical appointments, obtains immunization records, tracks medication, coordinates with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and updates medical information in Guardian.

Reviews work products and analyzes facts obtained by field DCS specialists, providing input on cases.

Evaluates the appropriateness of assessments, decisions, intervention plans, case plans, progress, barriers, placement, services, visitation, etc., to ensure child safety and compliance with policy, procedures and statutes.

Responds to and resolves problems and questions concerning policy, procedures and issues related to specific cases.

Attends staff meetings and participates in problem‑solving/decision‑making. Attends trainings, professional seminars, conferences and management meetings, and participates in work teams/groups as requested.

Produces, utilizes and sends reports. Writes detailed reports summarizing activities or productions covering a specified period of time or marking the completion of a project.

Other duties as assigned (typically 5%–10%).

Selective Preferences The selected candidate must possess a Master's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. The preferred candidate will have field experience and knowledge of social services.

Requirements Requires the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state‑issued driver’s license suitable for the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and may be required to complete driver training. Employees may use their own transportation, maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; mileage may be reimbursed if applicable. The ability to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and clearance from the DCS Central Registry is required. Employees are subject to E‑Verify and must complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program.
