Overview As a Security at The Cooper, you will be responsible for supervising day-to-day security operations to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and property. You will lead a team of security officers, enforce policies, and assist in responding to and managing emergencies and incidents with professionalism and discretion. Your role supports the delivery of a luxury guest experience through a safe and secure environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee, develop, and train Security Officers
Assign duties for shifts; assist in opening and closing of shifts
Ensure completion of Security Officer duties at end of shift
Protect hotel guests, staff, and property at all times
Review department logs, perform post-shift follow-up, and maintain records
Issue radios and keys; maintain accurate and secure records
Escort non-hotel personnel and inspect packages as per hotel policy
Authorize and document after-hours access to secured areas
Handle deliveries during non-business hours per procedures
Coordinate with outside agencies such as police and follow regulations
Coordinate emergency response and contact Director of Loss Prevention as needed
Monitor surveillance cameras and investigate duress alarms
Patrol property with equipment, document actions in accordance with standards
Resolve safety hazard situations and secure guest room doors
Challenge suspicious persons and conduct investigations into theft, lost items, complaints, etc.
Respond to guest or colleague accidents; provide first aid/CPR and communicate with EMS
Report scenes of fights and comply with state regulations for intoxicated guests
Document and return lost and found items to guests
Maintain confidentiality of all guest and hotel information
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of security experience in a luxury hospitality environment, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role
Knowledge of Forbes 5-Star standards and ability to apply luxury service principles
CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required
Strong communication, leadership, and crisis management skills
High ethical standards and attention to confidentiality and guest privacy
Familiarity with access control systems, fire panels, surveillance cameras, and security software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and report writing
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws applicable to hotel safety and security
Ability to communicate in English with guests, management, and colleagues
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift equipment and supplies of at least 30 pounds
Must resolve problems, handle conflict, and make decisions under pressure
Must stand, walk, patrol, and respond quickly for extended periods
Good hearing is necessary for effective communication
Available to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
