Instructor, Engineering Capstone Design Program (Part-Time) (Multiple) (Academic Affairs)
Position offered by the University of Arizona for the Craig M. Berge Engineering Design Program. The role involves teaching a cross‑disciplinary capstone design course (ENGR 498A & B) to graduating seniors across multiple majors. Instructors will serve as the instructor of record for six interdisciplinary teams, mentoring students through industry‑sponsored projects culminating in a public showcase at the end of each academic year. None (Adjunct) Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide activities in 90‑minute breakout sessions for six teams, twice a week during Spring and Fall semesters. Develop and provide written materials, videos, or other instructional resources aligned with course objectives. Evaluate and grade design reports, presentations, and engineering notebooks according to course requirements. Collaborate with the course coordinator and other ENGR 498 instructors to ensure uniform assessment and project synchronization. Provide technical instruction and feedback on design quality and project progress. Maintain communication with program sponsors, supplying regular status updates. Assist student professional development as they transition from academia to industry careers. Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline plus 5 years of engineering professional experience in industry; or Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline. Preferred: Ten or more years of engineering professional experience, experience with University of Arizona course structure, and a history of working in multidisciplinary corporate teams. Proven experience managing engineering projects, utilizing formal project‑management methods and metrics. Strong presentation and public‑speaking skills. Professional Engineer certification (preferred). Experience with conceptual design, technical approach development, prototyping, and building engineering products. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design topics through coursework or industry experience. Application Information
