Position Overview
The Pipelayer is responsible for installing sanitary sewer, storm, and water systems by accurately aligning, positioning, and connecting pipe structures according to project specifications.
Responsibilities
Install sanitary sewer, storm and water systems
Cut pipes to specified lengths according to project requirements
Assist with aligning pipes during pipeline construction
Verify slopes and grades using levels, lasers, or other measuring equipment
Connect pipe sections and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or approved adhesives
Tap and drill holes in pipes to install auxiliary lines or devices
Cover pipes with soil or other approved materials
Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools
Train crew members in proper pipe‑laying techniques
Perform other general labor and construction‑related duties as required
Qualifications
Ability to read and follow building plans, blueprints, and supervisory instructions; lay out work accurately; and perform tasks efficiently using the appropriate tools and materials
Must be physically capable of performing manual labor in various environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (over 50 lbs.)
Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions with consistency and accuracy
Strong interpersonal competencies, including a drive for results, timely follow‑through, effective verbal communication, organization, planning, dependability, trust, respect, and cooperation
Must provide and maintain all required hand tools necessary to perform assigned tasks
Demonstrates strong housekeeping practices and maintains a clean, orderly work area
