Radiology Technologist - R.T. (R) Location: Fort Collins, CO

Position Type: Full-time (Class: Technical/Support III)

Salary Range: $72,000‑$77,000

Position Summary

Perform exams in a timely and cost efficient manner, meeting quality and quantity standards. Refine, develop new approaches, and lead the other technologists in their area of expertise. Develop and lead the cross training of other technologists, interns, residents and external visitors and radiology residents. Teach the science of radiology to DVM students. The purpose of the position is to provide diagnostic support in the Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (VDI) section within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). This position will enhance current personnel and operations by operating equipment to produce radiographic images, assisting with positioning and in‑unit instruction, scheduling patients, maintaining patient records and managing equipment and supply inventories. The position operates independently in performing procedures. Judgement is used to select and apply existing guidelines to solve problems and accomplish the procedure. Note: The employee is designated as essential personnel and may be required to report to work during campus closures for weather or other events decided by CSU Central Administration.

Required Job Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology

Minimum 2+ years related experience

Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Preferred Job Qualifications

5 years experience within a healthcare or veterinary system

Bachelor’s degree

Essential Duties

Produce diagnostic radiographs and assist in fluoroscopic procedures that meet department standards, calculating exposure factors, positioning required based on animal conditions and disease indices.

Schedule and perform standard and non‑standard exams with most efficient use of department’s rooms, time and personnel, while meeting the condition of the client’s/patient’s health and welfare.

Perform studies including but not limited to small animal thorax, abdomen, extremities, cystograms, cystourethrograms, fistulograms, and any other duties as assigned to support the Radiology department.

Engage in miscellaneous procedures (nuclear medicine isotopes, scheduling, hourly, on‑call students, radiation badge distribution/set‑up).

Train students, technologists, and clinicians; provide instruction and scheduling for on‑call technicians and manage scheduling of hourly and on‑call students.

Operate the C‑Arm in all fluoroscopic exams; train clinicians and residents on radiation safety, proper use of the C‑Arm, and how to adjust images during exams.

Assist with RIS/PACS manipulation of patients, update system changes, and ensure students understand basic RIS/PACS principles.

Coordinate exams with referring clinicians and departments, prioritize efficiently to maintain the highest possible standard of patient care.

Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks, including creating instructional materials and developing new procedures to improve efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and information quality.
