Provide patient care services using advanced radiologic imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, digital angiography, angio-CT hybrid units and ultrasound, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of various conditions. Technologists perform and/or assist with minimally invasive radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Basic Procedural Responsibilities
Corroborate patient clinical history, name and date of birth with procedure, ensuring information is accurate, documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Maintain knowledge of proper procedural protocols for both adult and pediatric patient populations. Position patient using radiation protection devices and immobilizing techniques appropriate for age-specific populations. Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Position patient to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, while respecting patient comfort. Select and operate appropriate medical imaging equipment according to established protocols. Evaluate images for technical quality with proper identification and anatomical marking. Directly assist radiologist with radiographic, angio-CT hybrid and/or ultrasound procedures. Utilize proper archiving protocols for processing and storing all acquired images related to procedures. Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate exemplary customer service skills. Perform Quality Control checks on fluoroscopy and CT equipment. Advanced Procedural Responsibilities
Prepare, identify, and administer contrast media under the direction of a radiologist, according to departmental protocols. Prepare patients for administration of contrast media via intravenous, intra-arterial or other applicable route via appropriate catheter. Under direct physician supervision, function in a scrub assistant role during catheter-based procedures, while utilizing proper aseptic and sterile technique. Maintain knowledge of and observe Operating Room protocol and Universal Precautions. Secure proper supplies and set up sterile trays for all interventional procedures. Equipment and Procedures Knowledge
Maintain a detailed working knowledge of all equipment and supplies used in the Interventional Radiology Division, including single plane/bi-plane digital angiographic suites, CT/angio hybrid units, ultrasound units and other ancillary equipment. Know scopes and equipment used for stone removal procedures, thrombectomy/lytic therapy devices, vascular endografts, embolization devices, angioplasty balloons, vascular/non-vascular catheters and guide wires. Maintain knowledge of all diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, including vascular access and non-vascular procedures, and hybrid CT-angio procedures. Professional / Educational Responsibilities
Maintain ARRT certification(s) and complete ongoing continuing education requirements. Maintain AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Participate in quality assessment and improvement programs and may lead quality improvement projects. Provide instruction to patients, students, and other health care professionals; participate in research when applicable. Attend Interventional Radiology Division staff meetings when feasible and inform physicians/administrators of critical issues. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Graduation from a school of radiologic technology or equivalent experience. ARRT certification for Radiography (R) is required. AHA BLS certification required within 6 months of hire. ARRT advanced certification for Vascular Interventional (VI) required within 2 years of hire. Primary source verification required. Desired Qualifications
ARRT advanced certification in CV, VI, or CT is preferred. Work Details
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week – 4 days (8 and 12 hr shifts). On-call responsibilities and holiday coverage required. Locations: UH, CVC, C&W, Pavilion Modes of Work: Hybrid or mobile/remote work at department discretion; outlines are reviewed annually. Additional Information
