Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images interpreted by a Radiologist. They prepare patients for exams, position patients correctly, operate equipment, and obtain high-quality images while minimizing radiation dose. Specializations may include bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computed tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine. This caregiver role is PRN (as needed) from 1:00PM – 9:00PM or 11:00AM – 11:30PM, including weekend availability. Responsibilities
Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology, including routine radiology examinations, motion-free exams, portable/bedside exams, fluoroscopy and invasive exams, OR and ED procedures, and bone density procedures (DEXA). Regulate and operate imaging equipment. Review prep information with patients, explain the procedure, and obtain written consent. Document pertinent clinical information, such as medical history and allergies. Demonstrate a calm and reassuring approach to ease patient fear or anxiety. Transport patients to and from the department or room and coordinate with nurses regarding patients connected to devices or monitors. Collaborate with nursing staff to obtain signed consent forms, assist with exams and prep, and determine patient length of stay in the department. Check written orders from physicians before procedures and document in the chart after completion. Report equipment problems, safety issues or patient complaints. Minimum qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Radiology program Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) Florida licensed as a General Radiographer (RAD) Knowledge of federal and state regulations Preferred qualifications
Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting Physical Requirements
Mixture of moderate to heavy work as defined in the Employee Health Services Policy Frequent walking, sitting and standing Frequent use of phone, computer and fax machines Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling and crouching Mental demands: ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments, and collaborate with the healthcare team Special demands: self-starting, self-motivating, and ability to work hours exceeding eight per day as needed Confidentiality: limited access to medical records for verification of orders and signing off after exams Disclosures of PHI as necessary to verify orders and ensure correct exam per doctor’s orders Routine disclosures to verify orders for every Radiology patient Disclosures for signing off after exam completion Personal Protective Equipment
