Mission To fulfill President Lincoln's promise to care for those who have served in our nation's military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors.

Major Duties Incumbent must devise alternative methods to accomplish program objectives when technical guidelines are not always clear-cut, economic conflicts arise, etc. Work situations cover a wide variety of hazards, work activities and environments and involve numerous types and quantities of exposure to chemical, biological, physical and radiological hazards. Duties include: conducting studies of work operations and processes, examining work environments, analyzing findings, promulgating recommendations, and preparing various reports; performing analysis to determine nature and degree of toxic materials present; interpreting results of studies; determining and implementing control measures; receiving and disposing of hazardous wastes; preparing comprehensive written reports; ensuring documentation of employee exposures; conducting worker education; presenting expert testimony before courts, hearing boards, and other investigative bodies; inspecting new construction for compliance with codes and standards; and participating in multidisciplinary committees.

Qualifications

Education: Recognized bachelor’s or higher degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, or related field. Must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from an accredited institution.

Experience: Proven experience in industrial hygiene practices, exposure assessment, hazard control, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

U.S. Citizen. Selective Service registration required for male applicants born after 12/31/1959.

Must pass background and security investigation, pre‑employment physical, and seasonal influenza vaccination program.

Physical requirements: ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend; moderate lifting and use of protective devices; work in hazardous and confined spaces.
