Job Summary
Under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist, perform packaging, manipulative or other non-discretionary tasks related to the processing of a prescription in a licensed pharmacy, including pull and count tasks of filling prescriptions, but excluding all functions restricted to the registered pharmacist. Provide clerical and logistical support necessary for the functioning of the pharmacy at the Student Health Services.
Additionally, the incumbent provides equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive services that enhance campus life. This position uses a student‑centered and equity‑minded approach in all communication and service efforts. Key Responsibilities
Receive prescriptions from clinicians electronically, review for completeness and accuracy of patient information.
Enter and process patient prescriptions into the pharmacy database/electronic health record for hard copy prescriptions.
Respond to routine questions regarding availability, cost, size, etc. of prescriptions.
Prepare labels for prescriptions.
Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory with which to fill prescriptions.
Perform pull and count tasks of filling prescriptions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ideal candidate should have a solid working knowledge of brand and generic drug names, prescription packaging and labeling, and drug disposal protocols, along with familiarity with the standards, ethics, laws, and regulations governing pharmacy practices in California. They must understand and use pharmacy and medical terminology, perform accurate record‑keeping and inventory management, and ensure proper packaging and labeling of medications. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically with patients, staff, and colleagues are essential. The candidate should be computer literate, able to work autonomously and under pressure, and consistently comply with HIPAA regulations and Student Health Services policies. They must demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality and work effectively as part of a collaborative team while maintaining a respectful and cooperative attitude across a diverse population.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to a high school diploma and the necessary education and training to be a registered Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy.
Six months of experience working in a retail pharmacy setting.
Physical Summary
Light work – job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10‑20 pounds) and/or approximately 10‑20% of the job involves standing or walking.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of current registration as a Pharmacy Technician through the California State Board of Pharmacy.

Compensation The salary hiring range for this classification is $26.34 to $29.08 per hour.
Time Base Hourly/intermittent on‑call temporary position. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
