Job Description Responsibilities:
Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency.
Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner.
Oversees the technical activities of the section or department in the absence of the lead or supervisor.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent plus sufficient college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
Three years in a clinical laboratory setting.
Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
Person who recently moved into the state of Georgia may be temporarily classified as technologists for eighteen (18) months to afford the opportunity to complete an approved qualifying examination. AAB provisional certification not accepted.
Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) preferred.
Competence in areas of the laboratory being covered, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology preferred.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., with rotating holidays.
Under the direction of laboratory management, leading all aspects of operation in the assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures; analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance.
Works in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management.
Assists with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area.
Performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.
Qualifications:
