Job Description The Clinical Dietitian III has extensive experience in an acute‑care setting. This level of clinical dietitian performs at a high competency, working closely with patients, family/caregivers, physicians, nurses, allied health staff, food services, and department leadership. They serve as consultants and resources to the department and the entire Cedars‑Sinai system, leading as mentors and leaders within the clinical team.
Responsibilities
Conduct and implement complex, comprehensive, and specialized nutritional assessments.
Direct the nutritional assessment process in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
Collaborate with patients or clients to facilitate active participation and assess individual needs, establishing mutual nutrition‑related goals.
Act independently as a preceptor and evaluator for student RD/RDN/DTR training programs.
Serve as a mentor and resource for new RD/RDN/DTRs and less experienced clinicians.
Lead and design quality assessment and performance improvement projects, regularly reporting metrics to appropriate leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years as a clinical dietitian/registered dietitian in an acute‑care setting consistent with responsibilities.
Strong organizational ability to coordinate multiple projects within established timeframes, problem analysis and resolution, and excellent interpersonal skills. Patient‑oriented.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition required.
MS in a related field preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration required.
