Senior Maintenance Mechanic
We are looking for a Senior Maintenance Mechanic. With the right experience, skills, interest and aptitude, this role could be hired as a Lead role.
This position is responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance and for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, service, clean and maintain production and facility equipment. All tasks are performed in accordance with safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes that support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. It is a lead position requiring (60-65)% hands‑on work and (35‑40)% office work.
Essential Hands‑On Duties and Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on NC Mills, Lathes, and Manual Equipment, including unscheduled maintenance to reduce downtime.
Provide technical expertise when needed and as required.
Modify or install equipment and production machinery in accordance with company/manufacturer instructions.
Control scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs.
Understand mechanical and/or electrical systems and equipment.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Perform mechanical skills: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Use hand and power tools, machine tools, and test equipment.
Operate forklifts, aerial man lifts, and other company vehicles.
Knowledge of fabrication and welding is a plus.
Work with minimal supervision.
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including lockout‑tagout in compliance with company policies.
Essential Office Duties and Responsibilities
Manage parts and service orders and coordination with service contractors, maintaining good relationships.
Verify and approve orders and completed tasks and repairs.
Manage all facility maintenance tasks, including state and city regulations, permits, inspections, repairs, and improvements.
Prepare cost analysis and reporting for upper management.
Manage Preventive Maintenance (PM) module within ERP system, schedule and release PM orders, and maintain communication with production teams.
Lead OJ training and provide support for all EH&S activities.
Participate in Safety Committee actions.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and write English and follow procedures without deviation.
Basic knowledge of measurements and mathematical skills.
Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office.
Strong problem‑solving skills; supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to read and understand machine manuals, electrical schematics, piping and instrument diagrams, and other technical documents.
Must be organized and able to prioritize in a fast‑paced production environment with changing priorities.
AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
5+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.
Must be highly motivated, able to work independently, supervise projects and people as necessary.
Working Conditions The work environment is generally indoors with some outdoor activities. Exposure to machine equipment, manufacturing odors, and noise is common. Tasks involve walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and carrying, and standing for extended periods. The job requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Safety training is required and provided.
