Location and Employment Location: Plymouth, North Carolina, United States. This is a full‑time permanent position.
Primary Function The primary function of the Journeyman Mechanic is to keep equipment and machinery operational through maintenance, preventive maintenance, fabrication, replacement, installation, and rebuilding of parts and equipment.
Selection Process Applicants may be required to complete aptitude tests, interviews, practical skills demonstrations, criminal background checks, reference verifications, and pre‑employment drug screening.
Apprentice Program Domtar requires participation in a structured apprentice program. Successful applicants must be able to advance to a total of three skills within the program if hired. Additional skills are assigned based on mill needs.
Work Schedule Rotating shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Varying hours, unscheduled overtime, and emergency call‑ins may be required.

Required Qualifications
At least two years of industrial maintenance experience as a Journeyman Mechanic (Millwright, Pipefitter, Welder, or Machinist) or an associate’s degree in a mechanical maintenance field.
High school diploma or GED.
Successful completion of a technical mechanical assessment.
Availability to work varying hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to emergency call‑ins.
Pass pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
Wear required personal protective equipment.
Work in industrial conditions (warm/hot, dusty/dirty, hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, work at heights with proper safety training and protection).
