Facility:
10 EAST Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
Assignment Length:
13 weeks (Start: 11/7/2025 – End: 2/6/2026)
Shifts:
Three 12-hour day shifts/week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday; 7:00am – 7:30pm)
Guaranteed Hours:
36 hours/week
Estimated Weekly Salary:
$1880-$2020
Unit Size:
31 beds (25 Stepdown, 6 EMU)
Patient Ratios:
1:3 for Stepdown; 1:5-6 for EMU
Charting System:
EPIC
Dress Code:
Royal Blue scrubs
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active RN license (willing to obtain West Virginia RN license if needed)
Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Stepdown or Neuro Stepdown nursing experience
BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
Proficiency with EPIC charting system
COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Strong neuro nursing experience and ability to care for higher acuity neuroscience patients
Availability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
Flexibility to float to similar nursing units as needed
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality clinical care to cardiac and neuroscience stepdown patients, including those in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Monitor and manage patients with strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and post-TPA care
Administer and titrate medications per physician orders (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin)
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including charge nurses, nurse aides, and respiratory therapists
Accurately document patient care using the EPIC electronic medical record system
Participate in unit orientation and adhere to department protocols and clinical standards
Maintain flexibility to float to other clinical units as needed
