Respiratory Therapy Manager, Wilkes-barre Transitional Rehab Unit
Join Allied Services to apply for the Respiratory Therapy Manager role at Heinz Rehab Hospital’s Transitional Rehabilitation Unit (PT, Days, 48 hours per patient). The manager operates under the Assistant Vice‑President of Nursing and oversees daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy Department, including directing, scheduling, supervising, and leading staff to administer medically prescribed treatments as ordered by physicians.
Brief Description
The manager provides care appropriate to adolescent through geriatric patients and applies principles of growth and development over the lifespan. The manager assesses patient status, interprets data, and delivers care as set in Respiratory Therapy Department policies and procedures.
Education & Qualifications
A.A.M.A. approved respiratory therapy course leading to registry eligibility with an Associate’s Degree or higher.
Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute setting.
>Preferred: 1 year supervisory experience. Certified Respiratory Therapist in Pennsylvania.
CPR certification maintained.
Clearance by PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Central Register.
Excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
Manage respiratory care services including crisis intervention.
Ensure patient care assignments align with staff education and competencies.
Efficiently utilize resources to provide safe and effective patient care.
Evaluate treatment types and manage staffing levels; assign staff per patient needs and competencies.
Ensure staff complete assignments accurately and timely.
Participate in cost control activities and optimize departmental efficiency.
Facilitate communication about policy, regulatory, and procedural changes.
Maintain staff training and competency in equipment and pulmonary procedures.
Ensure proper and economical use of equipment and supplies; oversee preventive maintenance.
Participate in QAPI process, document patient care records, ensure compliance with standards.
Assist with chart review to monitor documentation accuracy and compliance.
Engage staff in quality measures.
Implement orientation and in‑service education programs for respiratory personnel.
Collaborate with AVP Nursing to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure departmental compliance with national, state, local, and institutional safety standards and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
Assist in hiring departmental personnel.
Collaborate on annual capital and operational budgets, including FTE budgets.
Engage in ongoing self‑directed professional education and maintain certification and licensure.
Participate in department‑head and hospital committee meetings.
Assist physicians in special care and diagnostic procedures per departmental policies.
