Job Description OEI (O'Brien Engineering & Architecture) is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (Building Automation and Controls focused) to support facility design projects nationwide, primarily in support of US federal customers (including Veterans Affairs, Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force, Space Force, Homeland Security). OEI has a long, nearly 40-year history and a strong pipeline for growth extending into 2035.

Key Responsibilities

Building system concepts and documentation process from schematics through construction administration phases.

Experience with central plants, hydronic, steam/VRF and energy recovery systems.

Working knowledge of building and building system codes (IBC, IECC, IMC, ASHRAE standards and NFPA standards).

Proficient in Revit and building load and energy modeling software including SKM, Bluebeam, AutoCAD.

Design support of electrical systems and related controls.

Possess general working knowledge of different electrical systems; stay up to date on industry advancements including best‑practices for applicability.

Supervise the installation of the designed systems and equipment.

Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.

Provide occasional travel to project sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

4-8+ years of experience designing electrical and low‑voltage systems for commercial buildings, health care and federal projects.

PE license preferable (or ability to obtain within six months).

LEED accreditation a plus.
