AmTrust E&S Insurance Services, a member of the AmTrust group of companies, is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable Underwriting Manager to manage and lead a group of underwriters and assistants for our Specialty Casualty Unit. This individual will oversee activities of our E&S Primary Casualty and Supported Excess Products within a designated region. They will provide supervision for a group of underwriters who review, analyze, and price insurance coverage for commercial insureds, analyze various rate plans using claims history and risk characteristics, and tailor coverage based on company guidelines. The role involves gathering competitor information, developing and maintaining relationships with wholesale brokers, and developing tools to grow departmental and underwriting profitability. A bachelor’s degree in the area of specialty or equivalent work experience is preferred. The candidate should be familiar with a variety of E&S concepts, practices, and procedures, rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and provide support and coaching to other underwriters while leading multiple products within the team.

Develop workflows and maximize automation.
Implement procedures to increase profitability.
Audit underwriters to identify challenges, confusion in procedure or guidelines, and need for additional training.
Assist underwriters in solving more complex underwriting issues.
Represent the Underwriting Department with key company contacts.
Seek out and develop new relationships with wholesale brokers.
Train new staff as needed.
Qualifications
7+ years of Commercial Underwriting background with emphasis on E&S Casualty.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Understanding of costs and expenses.
Exceptional customer service skills (internal and external), strong written and verbal communication skills.
Determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
Experience working with the wholesale brokerage community.
Team focused with ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
