Position Overview: We are currently seeking an
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter
to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and school staff. This role requires fluency in ASL and the ability to interpret spoken and signed communication effectively in various educational settings.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
Provide
real‑time interpretation
between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) for students, teachers, and school staff in classroom and extracurricular activities.
Facilitate communication during
instruction, meetings, assessments, and school events
to ensure full accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Interpret and adapt educational materials as needed, ensuring clarity and comprehension.
Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students' learning experiences.
Maintain strict
confidentiality and professionalism
in all interactions, adhering to ethical standards of interpretation.
Advocate for students' accessibility needs and ensure compliance with
IDEA, ADA, and other relevant regulations .
Participate in ongoing
training and professional development
to enhance interpretation skills and knowledge of best practices in educational interpreting.
Qualifications Qualifications:
Associate's OR Bachelor’s degree
in American Sign Language Interpretation, Deaf Studies, or a related field.
National Interpreter Certification (NIC), Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Score of 3.5 or higher, or equivalent certification.
Proficiency in
ASL and English , with strong receptive and expressive skills.
Understanding of
educational settings , including knowledge of special education laws and practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
Previous experience working as an interpreter or translator in an educational or community setting.
Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with students, families, and school staff.
Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in various school settings and accommodate diverse communication needs.

Physical Requirements (Working in a School Setting):
While performing the duties of this job in a
school setting , the employee is regularly required to stand, move between classrooms, and interact with students and staff. The role requires
continuous hand and arm movements for ASL communication
and the ability to interpret in both one‑on‑one and group settings. Occasionally, the employee may need to
lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds
and adapt to varying classroom environments.
