Position Overview Title: Senior Landscape Architect, Caltrans – District 3 (Alameda County, Oakland).

Salary: $11,437.00 – $14,315.00 per month.

Job Code: JC-498518.

Location: 111 Grand Ave., Oakland, CA 94611 (Hybrid telework allowed).

Responsibilities and Duties

Coordinate the Caltrans Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program across assigned district areas.

Apply scientific methods and principles to identify, investigate, and resolve biotic problems.

Develop and deliver environmentally responsible planning solutions to achieve departmental safety goals.

Manage vegetation and conduct planning for effective vegetation management and protection of important habitat and species.

Provide professional response to inquiries, regulatory compliance, and guidance.

Participate in program improvement, sustainability initiatives and continuing education sponsorship.

Prepare written pest‑control recommendations and represent the Weed Management Area.

Act as a member of the Fire Safe Council.

Provide general support for field maintenance operations.

Review encroachment permit applications and coordinate with other departmental units.

Qualifications

Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Landscape Architect issued by the California Board of Landscape Architects.

Valid driver’s license for operation of State‑owned or leased vehicles.

Eligibility based on passing the Senior Landscape Architect exam or eligibility list (list, LEAP, SROA, Surplus, Training‑and‑Development). For new California civil‑services applicants, a state examination list is required.

Additional Requirements

Provide current, unofficial (or official) transcripts, diplomas, or equivalent documentation as applicable.

Submit the California State Employment Application (STD 678) electronically via CalCareers or in hard copy with required forms.

Include State Examination/Employment Application numbers, PARF# 04‑6‑1226, and job title on all documents.
