As a Solar & Battery Storage Project Developer at Centrica Business Solutions, you will assist in the development of solar and storage projects across North America. The role will work closely with business development, management, engineering, project management, and construction staff to identify, assess and structure technical and financial solutions for customers’ renewable and energy efficiency needs. You will lead the project through pre‑construction due diligence to contract.
Location & Working Style Open to flexible work schedules working fully remote or hybrid. Must be able to travel occasionally. Preferably looking for someone near California.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the technical lead for the team of developers in the region.
Create and manage cash‑flow models to capture all revenue streams specific to solar and storage projects.
Assist in managing incentive program enrollment for all projects, track timelines, and submit final documentation to secure program funding.
Coordinate with the project development team and financing partners, communicate project updates and milestones achieved, provide transparency, and assist in document sharing.
Oversee and/or perform Helioscope design and budgeting of projects.
Audit sites as needed for PV solar installation suitability, environmental limitations, structural limitations, etc.
Develop professional quality proposal content for technically complex, multi‑site PV solar and battery storage systems (BESS) installations.
Manage 3rd‑party vendor relationships and Scope of Work/proposals (e.g., electrical and structural partners).
Develop proposals, reports, and presentations in collaboration with the Solar Analyst.
Network within the industry.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, business, or a related field, OR a Bachelor’s in Distributed Energy/Generation.
6+ years of work experience in the solar industry and/or engineering and operations.
Experience in commercial and industrial solar projects with full life‑cycle project experience from concept to performance, including completed projects that have been screened, audited, designed, installed, interconnected, and commissioned with permission to operate.
Experience in renewable financial modeling, demonstrated ability to maintain Excel‑based energy modeling.
Understanding of construction of solar PV and BESS projects.
Helioscope modeling skills (preferred).
Good technical skills relating to behind‑the‑meter interconnection, inverters, racking, and overall system design for solar PV projects ranging from 100 kW to 5 MW DC.
Past experience and up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices as they relate to solar and storage projects (preferred).
Valid driver’s license; travel required with employee’s automobile.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $140,000–$170,000 + bonus + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
