About the Role
As a Principal Nuclear Engineer you will provide miscellaneous plant support functions to support the operations of Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station (WCGS) in Burlington, KS. This role involves acquiring and maintaining the necessary qualifications in WCGS procedures and processes, and applying extensive Westinghouse safety analysis knowledge to support the operation of WCGS. A secondary focus will include the provision of transient analyses, as assigned, to support other Westinghouse customers.
You will report to the Manager, Integrated Site Engineering and be located on a hybrid basis at Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
Key Responsibilities
Perform safety analysis engineering efforts at Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS), including complex engineering design and analyses in the commercial nuclear industry.
Provide technical input and written documents supporting the design, development, training, performance, and delivery of technical products and services.
Define, implement, and drive projects to successful completion.
Support the transition of WCNOC core design and safety analysis methodology to Westinghouse methodology.
Manage daily customer satisfaction in the area of fuel reload design and support.
Resolve emergent plant issues and provide periodic updates and recommendations regarding the status of work and projects.
Create and deliver presentations to communicate statuses, problem resolutions, and recommendations.
Provide expert engineering knowledge to peers, vendors, and customers.
Develop procedures, processes, and methods for implementing technical requirements.
Apply engineering analysis (transient analysis, setpoints analysis, containment analysis, etc.) to other plants under the Westinghouse QA program.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
Strong advanced engineering problem-solving skills to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to highly complex, loosely defined technical problems.
Experience in performing analyses related to fuel reloads, including fuel core and thermal hydraulic design, Chapter 15 LOCA, non‑LOCA, and containment transient analysis.
Ability to obtain unescorted access.
Salary Base salary range: $103,200 to $129,000 per year (dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills).
