Research Assistant / Associate Molecular Biology (Bay Area Only) CellMax Life (Sunnyvale, CA) is an early-stage diagnostics company focused on cancer screening with a blood-based proprietary multi-modal assay that merges epidemiological data with novel technology for the detection of circulating precancerous and cancer cells combined with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) detection of rare somatic mutations. CellMax Life integrates these data using state‑of‑the‑art biostatistics and machine learning to develop classifiers for cancer screening. We are seeking a motivated research associate to join the team whose members are passionate about making a difference in cancer and precancer screening to improve the health and lives of patients.

We are seeking a full‑time Research Associate (RA) to join the CellMax Life R&D Team. The RA candidate should have experience in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, DNA extraction, NGS library preparation and target capture. The RA will be responsible for performing cfDNA extractions from plasma, NGS library preparation as well as target capture and sequencing of the final library products. He/She will also manage lab facilities and inventory and record/report experimental results that will lead to a clinical trial. The ideal RA will be a team player who can also work independently and communicate effectively. Our fast‑moving team requires an individual who can learn new skills and concepts quickly, while paying close attention to detail to ensure a successful clinical trial.

Responsibilities

Execute experimental work required for blood‑based genomic assays for an ongoing CellMax Life clinical study.

Execute validation studies of CellMax Life genomic assays under QMS design control processes in a fast‑paced product development environment.

Write SOPs and experimental protocols, record/report experimental results.

Work closely with bioinformatics, regulatory and other cross‑function teams to drive genomic product development and validation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a molecular biology background and demonstrated hands‑on experience in a wet laboratory setting.

Hands‑on molecular biology experience with PCR, DNA extraction, NGS library preparation and target enrichment.

Strong experimental skills and expertise in executing experiments with minimal errors.

Strong background in genomic assay development and robotic automation is a plus.

Self‑motivated, strong attention to detail, goal‑oriented, having a strong sense of urgency, and able to adapt to changing project scopes and responsibilities.

Comfortable working both independently and as a team member.
